Dr Tom Wong graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1993. He was appointed to the staff of the Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Trust in 2006 and became the cardiac catheter laboratory director in 2010. He has also been appointed as the Chair of Arrhythmia services at both the Royal Brompton and Harefield sites since 2015.
Dr Wong manages all aspects of general cardiology but has a specialist interest heart rhythm abnormalities and their management. He has expertise in a number of specialist clinical areas as listed below:
Arrhythmia management:
He manages all aspects of heart rhythm management, investigation, diagnosis and treatment. Dr Wong manages both the rhythm abnormalities and the blood clot risk associated with atrial fibrillation including left atrial appendage closure for appropriate patients.
Catheter ablation:
He specialises in catheter ablation techniques to treat heart rhythm abnormalities including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia and other rhythm abnormalities
Pacemaker and ICD implantation and management:
He performs device implantation for a full range of pacemakers including dual chamber and cardiac resynchronisation devices as well as implantable defibrillators (ICD). He is the leading expert in leadless pacemaker. He also provides ongoing care and monitoring for patients receiving such devices.
